Draw Wire Sensors
Draw wire sensors offer a simple solution to measure linear speed and position. Utilizing a flexible cable, a spring-loaded spool, and a sensor (an optical encoder with incremental, absolute, analog or potentiometric output), draw wire sensors can precisely measure linear position. Draw wire sensors do not need precise linear guidance and are ideal for wet, dirty, or outdoor environments and applications where your measuring range travels over harsh environments. These include applications in iron, steel, and wood (saw mills, joineries).

Potentiometer for OEMs
FlexiPot
The best user interface, whether in consumer electronics or industrial controls, contains sensors that cause minimal interference, meaning the user may not even know they are there. FlexiPot, by Tekscan, is a flexible membrane potentiometer with an ultra-thin (0.008"), lightweight profile. Low power requirements combined with a linear output make it the ideal position sensor, from both a manufacturing perspective as well as a user perspective.

Linear Position Sensors
Positek linear sensors use our own patented inductive sensing technology packaged in very durable housings. With a comprehensive range measuring from 1mm to 800mm and most products available with intrinsically safe approval. Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder applications can be satisfied either with the P100 style cylinder sensor, the internally mounted P106 linear sensor or any of our other externally mounted linear sensors such as the stand alone P101. For submerged applications we offer IP68 sealing to 10 bar from our S114 and S115 submersible linear sensors and 350bar from our S125. The complete range of linear sensors is very customisable with many mounting, electrical and connection options. Customisation of most of our Linear, Rotary and Rilt sensors is routine given the excellent flexibilty of our sensing technology.

Analog Positioning Sensors
Versatile, precise, superior – analog positioning sensors by SICKFor many tasks that use pneumatic cylinders, it is important to determine more than just the individual piston positions. As a result, there is an increasing demand for sensors that provide continuous feedback. This allows challenging automation tasks to be solved without having to use expensive linear motors. SICK is able to meet these demands with its analog positioning sensors. These sensors, which provide a measuring range of up to 1,007 mm, combine flexibility, simple operation and high precision.

Non-contacting Position Sensors
For use in harsh environments, Vishay offers non-contacting position sensors based on Hall Effect technology. Linear displacement, rotational (single- and multi-turn), and kit design options all provide a full 360° measurement range with no dead angles and very long life, since there is no wear and tear on sensor elements. Applications for Vishay’s non-contacting position sensors include any system where vibration, shock, or dithering is to be expected, such as embedded applications in vehicles.

Magnetostrictive Sensors
Linear position sensors with a profile design are contact-free and absolute measurement systems for the precise detection of one or more positions. They deliver convincing performance in harsh environments, for example in presses, injection molding machines or gantry robots, because they are made of an hermetically sealed IP67 aluminum housing. The magnets of the position encoder act on the measurement element through the wall of the profile.

8-Channel VME LVDT/RVDT Scanner
V550
The V550 is a 6U, one-slot VME module which will acquire position data from up to eight LVDT (linear variable differential transformer) position sensors. The LVDT sensors are excited by an ultrastable synthesized sinewave generator, and conditioned by a precision 16-bit A/D converter followed by digital signal processing. The resident microprocessor supervises scanning and signal conditioning, and places updated position data in VME-accessible dual-ported data registers for instant access from the VME bus.

PXI/PXIe LVDT, RVDT, Resolver Simulator Modules
Linear variable differential transformers (LVDT) are electrical transformer sensors to measure linear displacement. Driven by an AC excitation source, the LVDT generates a pair of AC output signals modulated according to the core's mechanical position (displacement). LVDTs have been widely used in applications such as power turbines, hydraulics, automation, aircraft, satellites, nuclear reactors, and many others. These transducers have low hysteresis and excellent repeatability.
